Graphics editor
Wen Chen is the magazine’s graphics editor and builds the charts that run through its pages, from a century of sea level in Westmere to a glacier’s shrinking balance sheet. She trained as a cartographer and spent nine years drawing coastal charts for the Corran Hydrographic Office before turning to data journalism. Her book Small Multiples, Large Doubts is a guide to reading graphs skeptically. She lives in Halbridge, sketches every chart in pencil before opening a spreadsheet, and has strong opinions about the color of rain.
Wen draws the charts that run inside our stories, from glacier mass balance to the tide at Westmere. Look for the line in red.
